Summer Exhibition Celebrating Art, Nature, and Community
Age UK Wandsworth is delighted to announce a special Summer Exhibition showcasing the creative talents of participants in our 'Foodie Fridays' sessions. The exhibition will take place on Friday, 15th August 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at our Gwynneth Morgan Day Centre, 52 East Hill, SW18 2HJ.
'Foodie Fridays' is funded by the VCS Cost of Living grant, and provides Wandsworth residents aged 60 and over with a weekly opportunity to get together, enjoy healthy, home-cooked meals and engage in a range of arts and crafts activities. Over the past few months, the group has been exploring themes of nature and sustainability, creating a diverse collection of artwork.
The exhibition will feature prints, collages, and sculptures, with many pieces crafted from natural and recycled materials sourced through the South London Work and Play Scrapstore. The project encouraged participants to experiment creatively and think mindfully about resources use, resulting in unique works such as landscape mosaics and junk-modelled food sculptures.
This exhibition is more than just a display of art; it's a celebration of the artists themselves and the stories of connection, creativity, and joy they have shared. It highlights the power of community and the positive impact of projects like 'Foodie Fridays' on the well-being of older residents.
'Foodie Fridays' sessions are held every Friday from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at our Gwynneth Morgan Day Centre, are free to attend and include a freshly prepared meal. Age UK Wandsworth extends its thanks to all the participants, staff, volunteers, and partners who have made the Summer Exhibition and the 'Foodie Fridays' sessions a resounding success.
