Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Here at Age UK Wandsworth, we are always pleased to hear about the fantastic impact of our Age Well Central Fund, helping to bring joy and connection to older residents across the borough. We recently awarded Wandsworth Community Transport (WCT) a £500 grant to host their wonderful 'Mad Hatter's Tea Party' – an event that embodies community spirit and engagement.
On the 2nd of July 2025, the Home Community Cafe was abuzz with excitement as over 70 older and vulnerable Wandsworth residents arrived for this much-anticipated event, many chauffeured comfortably by WCT’s own minibuses. This marked the fourth successful year that WCT has hosted this high tea, creating a cherished annual tradition for many.
Guests were treated to a delicious high tea, completely free of charge, made possible by the Age Well Central Fund. They also enjoyed a lively sing-along performance from the Wandsworth Community Transport Choir, encouraging everyone to join in the musical fun.
Adding to the fun, a free raffle offered 10 fantastic prizes. And, in true Mad Hatter's style, there was a hotly contested prize for the 'best hat,' with many attendees showcasing their creative and colourful headwear. It was a genuine celebration of community and connection.
Age UK Wandsworth’s Age Well Central Fund is designed to support local groups in delivering activities that combat loneliness and promote wellbeing amongst older people in Wandsworth. We are incredibly proud to see the direct and positive impact of these grants.
For other Wandsworth community groups, there are still opportunities to apply for our small grants of £250. Click here to discover how your project could benefit from our support. Let's continue to work together to make sure older people age well in Wandsworth!
