Shape the Future: become a Youth Trustee!

Are you a young, passionate individual ready to make a tangible difference in your community? Age UK Wandsworth is excited to introduce our new Board Fellowship Programme, an initiative designed to train the next generation of charity trustees and bring fresh perspectives to our board. This is your chance to gain invaluable experience, and develop vital skills.

For over 60 years, Age UK Wandsworth has been dedicated to helping older people age well and live independently. We believe diverse voices are crucial to effectively serving our community, which is why we're introducing the Youth Trustee role. As a Youth Trustee (aged 19-25), you'll bring unique insights and energy, ensuring young people's perspectives are heard loud and clear in shaping our strategies.

This isn't just a volunteering opportunity; it's a comprehensive training programme. You'll gain hands-on experience in governance, leadership, and strategy, learning how a charity operates at the highest level. You'll build professional connections, develop your confidence in decision-making, and have the immense privilege of knowing you're making a real difference. We will provide full support, including a dedicated mentor from our Board and guidance from the Chair.

If you live in Wandsworth or a neighbouring South West London borough, and are passionate about our cause, and eager to collaborate we would like to hear from you. While prior leadership or volunteering experience is a plus, your commitment to contribute is key. This 18-month fellowship requires dedication to six evening board meetings a year, with encouragement to attend sub-committee meetings. After the fellowship, we'll discuss opportunities to join our main Board or support your application to another charity. You can find out more here.

Ready to bring your ideas and help shape Age UK Wandsworth's future? If you’d like to apply send us an email telling us why you're excited about this role and how you can contribute to our mission. Expressions of interest can be sent to our CEO, Natalie, ceo@ageukwandsworth.org.uk by 30th September 2025.
