Greetings from Age UK Bury

We hope you are well and managed to avoid the new round of the dreaded virus.

Bury Older Peoples Network

This new network is a way for people (aged 50 and over) to work with professionals on things that matter to them, to improve health and social care services and to create better outcomes for people.

The next meeting will take place on Tuesday 5th April from 10am at the Met on Market Street in Bury Town Centre.  The main theme for this meeting will be ‘Neighbourhoods’ with discussions about the support and activities available for older people across the borough.

For this month only, following the discussions, there is an option to stay on for seasonal craft activities and lunch will be provided (11am – 1pm).

To book your place or for more information, please contact Bury VCFA: networks@buryvcfa.org.uk

The Greater Manchester Older Peoples Equality Panel – Bury Representative needed

A new Greater Manchester Equality Panel for older people is being set up at the request of the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham. The panel is one of seven equality panels established and funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Facilitating organisation MACC are now looking to recruit the first members for the new panel, beginning with one older person (age 50 plus) from each local council area (Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan).

The Panel needs an Older Peoples representative for Bury. The Bury representative will serve as the link between the Greater Manchester work and the Bury Older Peoples Network.  For further information on membership, support for members, meetings and how to apply, please see the documents below or contact John Mulvenna: GMOPN@macc.org.uk or 07502 233182. The deadline to submit an expression of interest is 25 March 2022 at 5pm.
