Greetings from the Jubilee Centre

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.

We are a day early but we wanted to get the word out that all our activities at the Jubilee start again on this Monday (24th January 2022).

Restarting Activities at the Jubilee Centre

We will be relaunching the evening session of Yoga & Wellbeing on 28th March 2022.

Please do not come into the Jubilee Centre if you are unwell.

Annual General Meeting ¦ 31st January

We tried to hold our AGM online this week, but we were let down by technology as the video and sound did not work.

We have reconvened the meeting for Monday 31st January at 2.00 at the Jubilee Centre. All are welcome to attend.

So we have enough refreshments for everyone, please let us know if you are coming by phoning Michelle on 0161 763 9030 or emailing her at admin@ageukbury.org.uk

Facebook Page

This week, Facebook took our page down, claiming we had violated their terms of use. We have submitted an appeal and awaiting an explanation for their decision.

We suspect – but they have not told us – it is because we use copyright-free music in our exercise classes, but they believe it is copyrighted music and we are some master criminals, exploiting the music industry. We will be back online as soon as we have sorted it out.

Coronavirus in Bury

As of Wednesday 19th January, 954.9 people per 100,000 in Bury tested positive for coronavirus over the last 7 days – that is a decrease of 52% from the previous week. On the same day, the England average was 965.0 people testing positive per 100,000 over the last seven days– a decrease of 43% from the previous week’s figure. The caveat with these figures is that many people are not getting a PCR test, if their lateral flow test comes up as positive, as there is no longer any requirement to do so. Therefore, the true level of cases is unknown. However, the general perception is the Omicron variant has peaked.

The government has announced that Plan B is coming to end meaning that working from home is no longer necessary and from Thursday 27th January, face coverings are no longer required by law in any setting. More at https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus
