You did it! Thank you for making 1,000 moments of joy possible!

What is the Christmas 1000 challenge?

This Christmas, we invited local businesses, schools, and residents to help create 1,000 moments of joy for older people and unpaid carers who might otherwise miss out on the festive season.

Thanks to your incredible support, we reached our goal!

A huge thank you to:
Pay.UK, Unite the Union Tower Hamlets, Dunelm, Financial Conduct Authority, Colt Technologies, Oaklands School Bethnal Green, Balgowan Primary School, and Daisy in north Hackney.

Together, you brought joy to older people who are housebound, in hospital, and at our Centres - through festive parties, Christmas dinner deliveries, gifts, and handmade cards.

Your Impact

  • Partied with more than 200 older people and unpaid carers
  • Cooked 150 Christmas dinners, including delivering 25 meals with gift hampers to older housebound people
  • Gave 525 gifts to older people and unpaid carers at home and in our centres
  • Made 513 handmade Christmas cards to older people spending Christmas in hospital

Why it matters

Winter can be the hardest time of year for many older people, with isolation increasing as services wind down and the days grow shorter. For many older people and unpaid carers facing hardship, Christmas can be a time of isolation and struggle.

Keep the Momentum Going

Your support doesn’t have to stop here. Help us continue to fight loneliness and provide vital services all year round.

As the risk of loneliness grows, we're especially in need of people who want to become befrienders, and telephone or meet an older person, once a week. Find out more and apply to today
