Prepare to Care Lunch & Learn for businesses

Caring doesn’t stop when the workday starts.

Across the UK, 1 in 7 employees is also an unpaid carer — supporting a loved one who is older, disabled, or living with a long-term condition. These individuals are balancing two full-time roles: one at work, and one at home. Yet, many do so without recognition or support, often until they reach a point of crisis.

At the same time, employers are increasingly recognising the importance of supporting employee wellbeing, inclusion, and retention. That’s where Prepare to Care comes in.

What is a ‘Prepare to Care’ Session?

Prepare to Care is a powerful, interactive Lunch & Learn session designed to raise awareness about the realities of unpaid caring. Delivered by an experienced speaker with lived and professional expertise, the session helps your team:

- Understand what it means to be an unpaid carer
- Recognise the signs of carer stress and burnout
- Learn how to access support - both inside and outside the workplace
- Foster empathy and inclusion across your organisation

Whether your employees are carers themselves, know someone who is, or simply want to be better allies, this session offers valuable insights and practical tools for everyone.

Why It Matters

Unpaid carers are the hidden backbone of our communities - and our workplaces. Yet, without the right support, they are at greater risk of:

- Burnout and mental health challenges
- Career stagnation or leaving the workforce early

- Demonstrate a genuine commitment to inclusion and social responsibility
- Foster trust and empathy

Who is this for?
