Our partners at Stagecoach West invited a group of AUKG's supporters to explore the Everyman Theatre...
On Thursday 10th July, Stagecoach West invited forteen Age UK Gloucestershire supporters on a Grand Day Out. Travelling by bus using their concessionary travel cards, the group came together to explore the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham.
Greeted at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham by Stagecoach West, the group enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour and discovered more about the theatre’s story. A close-up look at the fully restored Frank Matcham designed auditorium enabled the group to see what a day in the life of a working theatre is like. The tour peeked into the star dressing rooms, exploreed the fly floor high above the stage, and discovered Cheltenham’s best-kept secret: The Irving Studio Theatre! Later the group went into the heart of the theatre, under the stage to where the secret trap doors could be seen, and finally onto the beautifully restored auditorium. After a lunch, the group enjoyed an afternoon performance of Alan Ayckbourn’s Just Between Ourselves before taking the bus back home.
One of our supporters and Grand Day Out participant stated: “We've had a great day, the tour was interesting and well-organised by the theatre, and the costume talk was fantastic! It's been lovely talking to everyone at lunch. Thank you to Stagecoach for putting this on!”
