The Next Chapter Book Group for the over 50s LGBTQ+ community

Are you passionate about literature that celebrates and explores the LGBTQ+ community?

Are you looking for a safe and welcoming space to discuss thought-provoking books while connecting with like-minded individuals?

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new LGBTQ+ Book Group, The Next Chapter.

When and where will the Next Chapter Book Group take place?

The Next Chapter Book Group will meet monthly at Liquid Jade Tea Room on the last Wednesday of the month, 6.15pm – 7.30pm. The tea room will provide a warm and cosy atmosphere for open discussions about the literature and more.

What types of books will we read?

Our book selections will be diverse and will be chosen by the group members. They will reflect the wide spectrum of LGBTQ+ experiences in all genres such as contemporary fiction, queer classics and memoirs. Some of our selections may be written by LGBTQ authors, some may not be. We will follow the requests of the group. By blending different genres and authors, we aim to create a well-rounded reading experience that will engage, inspire, and challenge our members.

Reading List

Wednesday 24th April 2024 - A Bad Decade for Good People, Joe Bedford

Wednesday 29th May 2024 - Black Thorn, Sarah Hilary

Absolutely not! We welcome anyone over 50 years who share an interest in LGBTQ+ literature, regardless of their background or previous knowledge.

What can you expect from the New Chapter Book Group?

Beyond reading and discussing the books and authors, this group will create a community by providing a platform to form meaningful connections, create new friendships, and build relationships within Hull’s LGBTQ+ community. There will be opportunity for guest speakers, information about local services and more.
