Couple on a beach

Age UK Hull & East Yorkshire delivers vital services to local older people. Approximately a third of our funding comes from gifts in wills and without these gifts we would not be able to deliver all of our important work.A gift in a will to Age UK [Hull & East Yorkshire] will allow us to fund,

  • The advice and information service. We will enable older people to access funding that they are entitled to which they can spend on services to maintain their independence. Did you know that in 2023 we enabled local people to access £2.3million in funding?
  • The positive activities sessions. We deliver a range of activities that give older people an opportunity to meet up and stay active. This helps with both physical and mental health.
  • The befriending service. We offer a befriending and pen pal service to older people who are housebound. A befriender said ‘ I'm so glad my letter cheered him up. It has brought a tear to my eye.’ Our client Pamela said ‘It’s my first experience with Age UK [HEY] and it’s very good”. “It’s nice to have someone come into the home and have a chat and a coffee with me”.
  • The falls prevention team. We offer support and advice to older people at risk of falling and advice to organisations who work with those older people at risk. We keep older people out of hospital.

What kind of gift can I leave to Age UK Hull and East Yorkshire?

You can leave a specific sum of money or an item such as jewellery or a piece of art. Or you can leave a share in, or all of, what's left of the value of your estate after family and friends have been taken care of. The advantage of leaving a share (also known as residuary gift) is that it remains the same over time, and you won't need to change your will to keep up with inflation.
