Christmas Shoe Box Hamper Appeal
The Age UK Hull & East Yorkshire Christmas Shoe Box Hamper Appeal runs every year around the Christmas period, and we need your help to bring festive cheer to older people in the Hull and East Yorkshire community.
Through the donations of amazing people we have been able to deliver over 1,000 Shoe Box Hampers to elderly people who are lonely, isolated, and have no one to celebrate Christmas with. As our appeal continues to grow, we are reaching more and more individuals who are in need of support, and this is where you can make a real difference.
How Can You Help?
We’re looking for drop-off points across Hull and East Yorkshire where you can donate your filled Shoe Box Hampers. Could your business or organisation be a drop-off point?
We also need donations of items to fill these hampers. Some of the items we are looking for include:
- Food items that do not expire before end of 2026
- Only food items that have ingredients labelled for those who may have allergies
- Small Christmas gift such as diary, wordsearch, quiz book, reading book, Christmas ornament
- Something to keep warm, such as gloves, scarf or hat
- Toiletries and smellies
- Food that is in packets or tins
Think of something an older person you know would like to receive Maybe you’d like to donate some hampers you’ve already made, or volunteer your time to help us sort and organise the hampers at our office?
The boxes can be for a male, female or gender neutral. We will check all boxes before delivery to ensure they are going to a suitable person.
