Why regular movement is important
Regular movement can cut your dementia risk by 30 percent, lower cardiovascular disease risk by 35 percent, and reduce depression by 40 percent. The more active you are, the more you’re investing in a healthier, happier future!
Whether it’s a walk, stretching, or taking part in a community gardening group, every bit of activity counts and the benefits only continue to grow. Getting active doesn’t mean drastic changes, you can start small and build up!
Making it easier to find an activity that's right for you
To make it easier to find an activity that’s right for you, we have organised a Keep Active Day information event at Islington Central Library.
Better Leisure, Arsenal in the Community, Healthy Generations, Healthy Minds, Healthy Bods and Islington Council teams will be there for you to talk to on an individual basis.
Drop in to have a chat to find out - what's on, what's right for you (even if you have a health condition), what's near where you live!

Wishing Aisha all the best for the London Marathon!
We’re not saying a marathon is the way to stay active — far from it! But for those who can put their minds and bodies through the dedication, discipline (and yes, more than a little bit of pain!) it takes to run 26.2 miles… we think that’s pretty inspirational. 💪
Aisha Baker-Smith, one of our dedicated Trustees at Age UK Islington, is doing just that. We’re delighted — and incredibly grateful — that she’s running the London Marathon on Sunday 27th April to raise funds for our new Age UK Islington Counselling Service.
Thank you, Aisha, for going the distance to support the wellbeing of people in our community! 💙
Want to help Aisha reach her fundraising goal?
