We can help you find advocacy services that will help you to express your views and wishes, and to stand up for your rights. This might be to appeal against a benefits decision or if you've received faulty goods or services. We know where you can get expert legal advice depending on your specific circumstances, e.g. for benefits, employment, housing, immigration and asylum, discrimination or debt. We can also help you sort out any problems with your utility contracts or how you’ve been charged.

Getting advocacy

We can help you find a specialist advocacy service. This might be to support you with: GP appointments e.g. getting help accessing treatment, Employment rights e.g. getting access to flexible working if you’re a carer, with Benefit claims, e.g. an appeal against a benefit application, Housing problems e.g. helping to negotiate managing rent arrears.

Help with consumer rights

We can support you to understand bills and utility contracts and help you to sort out problems with how you've been charged. We can help you take steps to exercise your consumer rights. This might be if you're sold something that is not fit for purpose or you received a service that was not of expected quality or at a reasonable price.

Putting in place Lasting Powers of Attorney

There are a number of reasons why you might need someone to make decisions for you or act on your behalf. Lasting Powers of Attorney, or LPAs, are legal documents that allow you to choose one or more people to help make decisions in your best interest. This is something that our Future Matters team will be able to help you with.
