Our visitor and telephone befriending services offer support and companionship to older people who are socially isolated and in need of friendship.
The Visitor Befriending Service is available in:
People can become isolated for a variety of reasons - ill health disability or social disadvantage – but here at Age UK Mid Mersey we passionately believe that no one should have no one. Being matched with a volunteer befriender often fills a big gap. By visiting or telephoning each week, housebound older people can become better aware of the services and support available to them.
Visitor Befriending Service
Our Visitor Befriending service is only available in St Helens, a borough which has many socially isolated and lonely older people. Age UK Mid Mersey in St Helens aims to reduce the effect of social isolation by enabling older people to meet other people in their local community.
Call in Time
Where we are unable to provide visitor befrienders, we do also have access to our national Age UK telephone befriending service, Call in Time, which is available right across England. All Call in Time calls are free to recipients and delivered Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Contact us for more details.
Accessing this service
Referrals for both services can be made by a health care worker, neighbour, family, friend or by yourself. For more information about the services, please get in touch using the contact details below.
