If you are over 60 and have a small ‘one off’ task that needs doing, just contact us and we can send you a volunteer Good Neighbour to carry out that task for you. We are not an emergency service but we will do our best to respond to your request as soon as we can. All volunteers are DBS checked, which stands for Disclosure and Barring. This discloses any previous criminal activity so you know you can trust our volunteers. Our volunteers also receive training on visiting people in their homes and confidentiality. If items have been purchased to complete the task, you will also need to reimburse the amount directly to the Good Neighbour, who will provide a receipt.

Examples of the sort of tasks that a Good Neighbour can do are:
-Change a light bulb
-Take some rubbish to the tip
-Change the batteries in hearing aids, remote controls etc..
-Sew on buttons or turn up hems
-Re-tune a TV
-Basic computer problem task
-Reach a high cupboard
-Collect a prescription
-Sweep a front path
-Move some light furniture
-Hang some curtains

The scheme does not undertake heavy work or regular work such as gardening, cleaning, care work or DIY jobs. If you need a regular task to be undertaken such as cleaning, shopping and DIY jobs, Age UK NSWD can provide a Home Support Service or Handyman Service.
