  • Improve access to information about community based support and activities for older people
  • Provide a person-centred servie that responds to the needs and interests of older people and their carers
  • Support older people to identify issues that affect their ability to live well, help them to make connections in the community and access information, advice or further support.

A team of Community Connectors will be based around the borough. They will become a catalyst for action, providing information, referrals and signposting that enable older people in communities across Rotherham to find support and become involved. We will recruit, train and provide support for a team of volunteers in this new role.

Community Connectors will also be involved in fundraising and promoting Age UK Rotherham services.

The role of a Community Connector includes being our eyes and ears across Rotherham and a source of information. This helps Age UK Rotherham to build connections. Older people will be able to connect with the appropriate staff and services to help and support them and their needs.
