If you live in Westminster and everyday household tasks are becoming more difficult, Age UK Westminster's Help at Home service is here to support you.

Our friendly team provides practical home support for people aged 50 and over, helping you remain independent, comfortable and confident in your own home.

Whether you need assistance with cleaning, collecting prescriptions, shopping or simply someone to spend time with, we're here to provide flexible, reliable support that's tailored to your needs.

We'll arrange an initial visit to discuss the type of support you're looking for. Together we'll create a plan that works for you, whether you need help every day, weekly, fortnightly, monthly or as a one-off visit. This service is delivered in partnership with our Age UK North West London partners.

Our Help at Home service can include:

General housework, cleaning and tidying
Laundry and changing bed linen
Shopping with you or on your behalf
Accompanying you to appointments
Preparing simple meals
Help with paperwork and completing forms
Friendly companionship and social visits
Dementia sitting service (non-clinical)
Prescription collection
Light gardening, including mowing lawns, planting and weeding

What to Expect

Getting started with our Help at Home service is quick and straightforward.

Step 1 – Get in touch

Contact our friendly team to discuss the type of support you or your loved one needs.

Step 2 – Home assessment

We'll arrange a visit to your home to talk through your requirements and complete a home support assessment. This helps us understand how we can best support you.

Step 3 – Receive tailored support

Once everything is in place, your Home Helper will begin visiting at agreed times that fit your routine. Visits are available Monday to Friday, 9.00am–4.00pm, and can be arranged regularly or as a one-off, depending on your needs.

There's no obligation and no pressure—just practical, friendly support to help you remain independent at home.

How do I arrange Help at Home?

There's no referral needed.

Simply contact Age UK Westminster and we'll arrange an initial home support assessment at a convenient time.

During the visit we'll discuss your needs, answer any questions and agree a personalised support plan. We'll then match you with a Home Helper and arrange visits that work around your schedule.

Support is available Monday to Friday, 9.00am–4.00pm, with visits available weekly, fortnightly, monthly or as required.

What household tasks can a Home Helper do?

Our Home Helpers can assist with a variety of everyday household tasks, including:

Cleaning, tidying and general housework
Laundry and changing bed linen
Shopping
Collecting prescriptions
Preparing light meals
Help with paperwork and correspondence
Escorting you to appointments
Companionship and social interaction
Light gardening (where appropriate)

Every support plan is tailored to your individual needs and agreed during your initial assessment.
