Community Meals

Age UK Wiltshire are this month launching a new Community Hot Meals service delivering lunchtime meals to older people living across Swindon and Wiltshire. Our clients tell us that one of the daily tasks they find increasingly difficult as they get older is shopping and cooking for themselves. And not everyone is lucky enough to have family or friends close by who can help out. By providing a Community Hot meals service, we will be helping older people live independently and safely in their own homes for longer and giving family members the reassurance that their loved ones are getting a nutritionally balanced hot meal every day.
A spokesperson for Age UK Wiltshire said “we are an independent, local charity providing support and services to older people living in Swindon and Wiltshire. The launch of this new Community Hot Meals service will enable us to reach out to older local residents, helping them to live independently and safely in the community whilst also giving them access to the other charitable services we provide and the wider support network of Age UK.”
The meals have been designed by dieticians and nutritionists specifically to meet the dietary needs of older people. The service is available on every day of the year, and costs £6.50 for a main course meal and dessert to be delivered to your home.
