Summer Updates

Published on 11 August 2025 10:18 AM

As we enter the month of August, it’s safe to say there has been lots of positivity for everybody at Age UK Wolverhampton recently!

We have seen the success of another coach trip, this time to Gloucester. Many of our attendees visited the cathedral, docks and local shops in the sunshine, and it’s a good job they bought their sunscreen because it was one of the hottest days of the year. Many coffee shops were frequented, lots of shopping bags made it back onto the coach and thankfully so did all of our attendees! Our coach trip was so successful that we will be announcing another one in September, so keep an eye out for our next trip announcement or email ltalbot@ageukwolverhampton.co.uk and let Lucy know you’d like to join us.

We started our brand new Seated Yoga classes in July, with the help of our lovely instructor Kerry. We have seen our class grow every week and we’re pleased to see the seats filling up. There is still plenty of room for more, so if you’d like to join us for some gentle stretches and soft exercises join us Wednesday mornings 10.30 - 11.30am at The Hub, Ashmore Park.

You may have been one of the headbangers at our last Daytime Disco at Wednesfield Conservative Club where we paid tribute to the late, great Ozzy Osbourne with the classic ‘Paranoid’ by Black Sabbath. It was a bit of a diversion from our usual choice on music, but we were pleased to see everybody stay up on the dancefloor and give Ozzy the send off he deserved! Our Daytime Disco’s happen every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at Wednesfield Conservative Club, or the 3rd Thursday of every month at Penn Bowling Club.

Our Friendship Groups have seen an influx of new attendees; it turns out a cup of tea and a natter is exactly what people need, with The Hollybush in Penn seeing five new members join their group last month! You can come along to any of our Friendship Groups whenever you fancy a chat, no membership is required and you don’t need to prebook.

Finally, don’t forget that we have a much needed Bank Holiday on August 25th! That means our classes won’t be running and our phone lines will be closed, in order to give our staff and volunteers a well deserved day off. Our Tai Chi classes will also not be running on 1st September, or 20th & 22nd October.

We will be back with more exciting updates soon, but for now, don’t forget to sign up to our Newsletter to stay up to date with everything we are doing here at Age UK Wolverhampton.
