August Updates 2025
Published on 03 September 2025 01:55 PM
It's September already, and we can’t believe how fast the year has gone!
August was quite the month for sunshine and summertime weather, with temperatures reaching 35.8°C in the south! That made August the perfect month for our fantastic volunteers to set-up a stall at Temple Baptist Church in Oxley, where they sold some beautiful knitting, crocheting and sewing all created by our fabulous Tuesday morning Craft Group! We are so grateful to Di, Theresa, Rose and Georgina who raised a total of £160 in August for Age UK Wolverhampton. If you would like to join our Craft Group all you need to do is turn up on Tuesday from 10:30am at the ASAN Centre in All Saints.

Our comfort dolls, Leah and Rosie, found their new homes last month too! Our dolls make a huge difference, designed specifically to comfort those suffering with dementia, these beautiful dolls are made by our wonderful volunteers. Leah and Rosie have already brought so much joy to their new homes! If you'd like to learn more about our Comfort Dolls, whether you have a loved one who would benefit from a doll of their own, or you'd like to help make more, please get in touch.

We are also pleased to announce that the Afternoon Soul Train has pulled into Penn Bowling Club, where we will be playing all of your favourite Motown Soul and Disco tracks every 3rd Thursday of the month! Join us on Thursday 18th September for our very first installment of the Afternoon Soul Train.

And finally, are you compassionate, reliable, and passionate about making a positive impact on people’s lives? We’re currently seeking paid Cleaning and Companion Assistants to join our dedicated team. Your role will involve providing companionship, light cleaning and similar support to our clients in the comfort of their own homes. We aim to match you with clients close to where you live. If you are looking to spend a few hours a week supporting older people in your community, please contact us. This is a paid position and makes such a huge difference to people’s lives.
We will be back with more exciting updates soon, but for now, don’t forget to sign up to our Newsletter to stay up to date with everything we are doing here at Age UK Wolverhampton.
