Celebrating our Ledbury shop's first-year anniversary

Shoppers at the Ledbury Age UK Wyvern store will be offered 10% off all purchases from Thursday 2nd July to Saturday 4^th July when they sign up for the charity’s newsletter in-store. The special promotion marks the first-year anniversary of the opening of the shop on Homend.

Shop Manager Steve Farrell commented, “We’ve had a brilliant first year in Ledbury and want to mark the occasion with a small celebration. Everyone who signs up to receive our free newsletter, which has details of services and events run by the charity, will get 10% off in store. We feel like we have gone from strength to strength over the last 12 months, helped by our fantastic team of committed volunteers. Last Monday was our best Monday yet, with over £400 being taken in one day. We’re also in the middle of an exciting floor move, which should make room for 350 extra items, so now more than ever we welcome good quality donations of clothes, books and household goods”.

Edward Huxley has volunteered in the shop since it opened and shared his tips for shoppers, “The first hour we’re open, from 9 until 10, is the quietest time, so if you want to browse in peace, and perhaps snap up a bargain that was brought in the day before, that’s the best time. It’s also worth knowing that we are very dog-friendly so if you’re out with your pet you can be sure they will get a warm welcome and a treat from the jar on the counter if allowed.  The regulars remember where it is and I often look down to see a dog patiently waiting for their reward!”

The Ledbury Age UK Wyvern shop is open Mondays to Saturdays from 9am to 5pm. New volunteers are always welcome; anyone interested can visit our volunteering page or pop into the shop for a chat.

Emma Yates, Director of Income Generation at the charity, commented, “We’re delighted that the first year has gone so well and we are proud to be part of this lovely town. Along with our new Help at Home scheme, Sheds Together project, free digital café and information and advice service for older people, we aim for our shop to be at the heart of life in Ledbury."
