Changes to Dementia Support Services in Herefordshire and Worcestershire

Age UK Wyvern is announcing an important change to dementia support services across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

From 31 October 2026, Age UK Wyvern will no longer be commissioned by the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB) to deliver the Dementia Wellbeing Service.

From 1 November 2026, a new Post Diagnostic Dementia Support Service will be delivered by Alzheimer’s Society, following a procurement process undertaken by the ICB earlier this year.

Age UK Wyvern has delivered the Dementia Wellbeing Service since October 2024, supporting people living with dementia and those who care for them across the two counties.

The new service will provide personalised post-diagnostic support through dedicated Dementia Advisers. Age UK Wyvern, Alzheimer’s Society and the ICB are working together to help ensure a smooth transition for people currently receiving support through the Dementia Wellbeing Service.

Supporting people through the transition

Age UK Wyvern recognises that continuity of support is important for people living with dementia, their families, and carers.

Current Dementia Wellbeing Services delivered by Age UK Wyvern will cease on 31 October 2026.

People who wish to access the new Post Diagnostic Dementia Support Service will be able to contact Alzheimer’s Society directly from 1 November 2026.

Age UK Wyvern’s ongoing commitment

While Age UK Wyvern will no longer deliver the commissioned Dementia Wellbeing Service, the organisation remains committed to supporting older people to live well and independently across the communities it serves.

Age UK Wyvern continues to provide a range of services, including information and advice, support to remain independent at home, guidance on benefits and entitlements, wellbeing activities and community support.

We are therefore working closely with Alzheimer’s Society and the ICB to support as smooth a transition as possible for the people we currently support".
