As 2025 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to celebrate an incredible year for Age UK Barnsley. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our staff, volunteers, partners, and the amazing Barnsley community who continue to support us every step of the way.
Here’s what we achieved from 1 January to 18 December 2025:
1. Information and Advice
Our Information and Advice service supported 2,091 clients, including both new and returning individuals.
Through this work, we helped secure £2.09 million in identified benefits, ensuring people received the financial support they were entitled to.
2. Community Outreach
Our outreach work continued to connect people across Barnsley:
-
257 people attended social groups
-
240 one-to-one clients received individual support
3. Affordable Shopper Service
We helped 32 clients with our shopping service, ensuring they could access groceries and essential supplies each week.
4. Elizabeth Day Centre
Approximately 54 clients attended the Elizabeth Day Centre throughout the year.
We hosted 2,560 sessions, providing vital support to clients and their families.
5. BOPPAA (Barnsley's Older People Physical Activity Alliance)
Staying active remained a key focus in 2025:
-
234 physical activities delivered
-
410 participants took part in BOPPAA-funded programmes
-
212 people attended Falls Prevention classes, helping to build confidence and reduce risk
6. Volunteers
Our volunteer team grew by 20% this year - a true testament to the power of community. We simply couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers, and we’re incredibly grateful for every hour they give.
Thank you to everyone who supported us, volunteered, partnered with us, or participated in our services this year. You make a real difference in Barnsley every day.
