The Befriending service supports older people across Bath and North East Somerset who feel lonely and isolated.
The service is free and confidential, with local volunteers visiting or calling regularly to provide companionship and support for as long as it is required.
Demand for the service is high, particularly during the winter months, so it is reserved for those older people who are unable to travel to one of our other social activities such as the Lunch Club, Day Centres or Walking Groups. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer the service to those who have a diagnosis of a significant mental health illness or a diagnosis of dementia.

What people say about our service
"I love being an Age UK befriender because you can make such a difference to someone who is feeling lonely and isolated. It's about friendship and knowing they get real benefit from your visits. I would highly recommend becoming a befriender to anyone and the training that Age UK B&NES provide is excellent." ~ Nichola Linton
