Greetings from Age UK Bury

In this week’s newsletter, we announce details of the new Men-Only Exercise Classes, and we promote the free Home Energy Checks for our readers. With gloomy news about rising energy prices, this service is more needed than ever but we must end the scheme soon. Please book now to avoid disappointment.

Men-Only Exercise Classes

Men-only Exercise Classes will begin again on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th February. The new times will be 9.30 to 10.30 every Thursday and Friday morning.

Our new Tutor is Debs Cassar-Egan, who has extensive experience of working in community settings as a Fitness Instructor and has previously served in the RAF.

Our classes are being supported by Bury Council’s Health Improvement Fund and for the first thirteen weeks, we are charging an introductory fee of £2.50 per session. (This is half the cost of a normal session).

Please tell all your mates, lads!

Jubilee Centre Activities

Our timetable is in the link below.

Energy News

With energy bills soaring from April, it's an uncertain and anxious time for many older people on a low fixed income, who already struggle making their payments.

We are offering FREE Home Energy checks to make homes more energy efficient and warmer in the winter. Our advisors will discuss energy saving equipment with you and if suitable, these will be installed by our Handy Person service free of charge. We are offering equipment up to the value of £30. To benefit from this programme, contact Ruth on 07547 400142 or email ruth@ageukbury.org.uk

Martin Lewis, of Money Saving Expert, does his best to explain the energy crisis in his weekly email:  https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/latesttip/

Our national partner, Age UK is continuing its campaign to call for more support to help older people with energy bills: https://bit.ly/3uPwGCD

Use up your stamps!

The Royal Mail is changing the rules on stamps, so if you've got any with the Queen's head on them that say '1st' or '2nd' class, or any other price, or if they are Christmas-themed, then you'll no longer be able to use them after 31st January 2023. If you use these stamps after this date, you will have to pay a surcharge.
