Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire Strengthens Partnership with WWCC to Support Older Residents

Published on 17 June 2026 02:11 PM

Earlier this year, Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire announced its partnership with Wellesbourne & Walton Community Cares (WWCC), committing both practical and financial support to help sustain much‑loved community events for older people.

Since then, the charity has worked closely with WWCC to support key activities, including the OSCARS Tea Party and, most notably, the recent three‑day Holiday at Home event. These initiatives are designed to bring older residents together, reduce loneliness and provide opportunities for companionship and enjoyment.

This year’s Holiday at Home programme proved a great success, offering a Cotswolds‑themed experience that gave attendees a sense of escape while staying close to home. Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire staff were on hand throughout the event, working alongside WWCC volunteers to create a welcoming, safe and engaging environment.

Michael Garrett, Chief Executive of Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire, said the partnership continues to make a meaningful difference: “These events play a vital role in fostering social connection and supporting those who may be isolated. We’re proud to provide both funding and hands‑on support to help ensure they continue to thrive.”

WWCC also welcomed the ongoing collaboration. Wendy Biddington said: “Having Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire’s support has been incredibly valuable. Their involvement helps us continue delivering experiences that bring people together and are truly appreciated by our community.”

With continued backing over the next two years, the partnership is set to strengthen local services and ensure that popular events like Holiday at Home remain a cherished part of the community calendar.
