Our Voice of Older People Panel consists of more than 300 local people aged 50+ who regularly share their views, experiences, concerns and priorities. We’re bringing together these insights alongside other local data in our Age Matters Briefings. Each briefing highlights a particular issue and outlines practical actions that local decision-makers and representatives can take, to help now.
Age Matters Briefing – Issue 1, September 2026
This Briefing focuses on raising the Warm Home Discount to £200 and failure to claim Attendance Allowance. We estimate that over 8,000 eligible older people in Gloucestershire may not be claiming this benefit, which represents around £40.7m of unclaimed support each year. We know that many people are making difficult financial decisions between warmth, wellbeing and financial security – claiming Attendance Allowance and receiving the Warm Home Discount could make a significant difference this winter.
