Exploring Worcester's History!

We have had the pleasure of exploring Worcester’s History, with thanks to ‘Explore the Past’ within the Hive Library Worcester for loaning these amazing boxes of history to take a look at!

The boxes we borrowed have sparked many a conversation about how Worcester used to look – by studying the old maps, people trying to find where they live, and visualising the old city walls that surrounded Worcester was interesting too. We could look at and talk about how Worcester traded and what goods were on offer by reading the old newspapers – these were a treat; people couldn’t believe we had the real deal to hold and look at. The photos were of real value, people were able to discuss if they remembered the streets looking like that, the car they might have had, the lack of road signs and paint on the roads. We have used them in the Dementia Cafes, Meeting Centres and in our MCST (Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy) sessions.
