Veterans Event- October 2022

The event was well attended by veterans from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force, together with many of their carers and family members.  The guests were treated to tea and coffee throughout, together with a buffet lunch with dessert.  Eleven members of the fabulous Malarkey Ukulele Band performed for over an hour, entertaining the guests with renditions of a host of well known songs and some amusing stories in-between! 

A raffle at the end of the event was well received, with a host of prizes donated by local organisations, including West Midland Safari Park, Severn Valley Railway, Severn Stars, Holland House, Worcestershire County Cricket Club, Station Garden Nurseries, Morrisons (Evesham & Malvern) and Tesco (Evesham). 

The highlight perhaps was the presence of two World War 2 veterans - a 97 year old RAF Veteran and a 96 year old Royal Navy Veteran.  We were able to bring the two of them together and they shared an emotional embrace which told its own story.  As we approach Remembrance Day, it was a timely reminder of the sacrifices made by Veterans such as these.

One of them later said "Today has been absolutely wonderful.  I spend most of the time of my own but today I feel like I have been on holiday.  Thank you."
