Age UK Hull Christmas Shoe Box Hamper Appeal

At Age UK Hull we know that Christmas can be an especially lonely time. Many older people have no relatives or friends, some are housebound and others have not spoken to someone for a long period of time they feel forgotten, we want to put a smile on the faces of these older people.

We think you are never too old to receive a Christmas gift that is why each Christmas we undertake a Christmas Shoe Box Hamper Appeal.

Last year our Christmas Shoe Box Hamper Appeal delivered an amazing 935 filled Hampers to older people across Hull and East Yorkshire!

This year we want to get over 1000 into the hands of older people.

Can you help?

A Christmas Shoe Box Hamper is a donated Christmas wrapped shoe box, filled with items such as…

• Tinned and Packet food
• Chocolates/sweets
• Small gifts such as a diary, a mug, gloves, toiletries
• Christmas Card

These are created by generous individuals in our community. We have donation points across Hull and East Yorkshire that Shoe Box Hamper donations can be taken into.

Who gets a Shoe Box Hamper?

We have a client base that our volunteers contact to see whether they would like a Shoe Box Hamper. But we also accept nominations from the public if they know someone who would appreciate a Shoe Box, we just need to make sure they are aware they are getting one. If you know someone please give us a call or email and we will put them onto our list.

How to get involved

Anyone can donate a filled and wrapped Christmas Shoe Box Hamper to one of our donation points. (The donation points will be released before the appeal is launched.)

We have had donations from:

• Schools and nurseries
• Workplaces
• Community Groups
• Businesses
• Families

This year we are looking for volunteer Christmas Shoe Box Hamper Delivery Drivers so we can make sure everyone who wants a Shoe Box, gets one.

We are also looking for volunteer Christmas Shoe Box Hamper Helpers to help us check through shoe box hampers that get donated and create new shoe boxes out of donated items.
