As the colder months arrive, Age UK Hythe, Lyminge & Ashford is inviting local residents to step in from the cold and enjoy a warm, friendly welcome at our community support hubs in Hythe and Ashford.

Our Meet Up, Warm Up 2026 initiative offers welcoming spaces where people can relax, enjoy a hot drink, meet others and access helpful information and support.

Whether you're looking for somewhere cosy to spend a little time, fancy a chat over a cup of tea or would simply appreciate some friendly company, our doors are open and we'd love to see you.

A Cosy Space for Tea, Chat and Cheer

We understand that the colder months can sometimes feel particularly challenging, especially for older people who may be concerned about rising household bills or spending long periods at home alone.

Our community support hubs provide somewhere comfortable to escape the cold, enjoy a change of scenery and connect with others.

Visitors can benefit from:

  • A warm and welcoming space – Relax in comfortable surroundings and enjoy a friendly atmosphere.
  • Companionship and conversation – Meet new people, catch up with friends or simply enjoy a chat.

  • Free Wi-Fi and phone charging – Stay connected and charge your mobile phone while visiting.
  • Social activities – Opportunities to enjoy activities with others, with some available for a small charge.

You don't need a special reason to visit. Sometimes, a warm welcome and a friendly conversation can make all the difference to someone's day.

Helping Our Communities Stay Warm and Connected

At Age UK Hythe, Lyminge & Ashford, we believe that everyone should have somewhere welcoming to turn to, particularly during autumn and winter.

Meet Up, Warm Up is about much more than providing somewhere warm to sit. It's about bringing people together, encouraging friendships and making sure older residents feel connected to their local communities.

Loneliness and social isolation can affect people of all ages, but opportunities for regular conversation and social interaction can be especially important for older residents.

Something as simple as meeting a friend for a cup of tea or joining a community activity can brighten someone's day.

Through our community hubs and wider charitable services, we remain committed to helping older people across Hythe, Lyminge, Ashford and the surrounding areas stay active, independent and connected.
