How The Dash Helps Older People

It's a shocking statistic, but more than 1.2 million older people are chronically lonely in the UK, including more than 31,000 in West Yorkshire. The money raised from the Abbey Dash will go towards Age UK’s vital national and local work such as helping older people who are entirely alone.

We’re the country's largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life. We help more than 5m people every year, providing support, companionship and advice.

Our national advice line, which is open 365 days a year, answers in excess of 250,000 calls, helping on a wide range of issues, from money matters to arranging care. Our Call in Time telephone befriending service provides companionship to lonely older people through regular calls.
