Befriending Week

Published on 02 November 2026 01:05 PM

This Befriending Week (1-7 November), Age UK Lincolnshire is proud to celebrate the volunteers, clients, and staff who make our befriending service such an important source of support for older people across the county.

This year's theme, "Supporting each other through meaningful connections," highlights the power of friendship, companionship, and community in helping people feel valued, connected, and less alone.

Throughout the week, we will be recognising the incredible difference our befriending volunteers make every day. Whether through regular visits, telephone calls, or simply taking the time to listen, these meaningful connections help older people build confidence, improve wellbeing, and remain connected to their communities.

We are also looking forward to hosting a series of Meet the Team events. With several new members of staff joining our Befriending Team over the past year, these informal gatherings will provide an opportunity for volunteers, to get to know the people supporting the service behind the scenes, share experiences, and celebrate the friendships that befriending makes possible.

Befriending Week reminds us that connection works both ways. By supporting one another through meaningful relationships, we can create stronger, kinder communities where everyone feels they belong. We would like to thank every volunteer, client, and supporter who helps make this possible.
