The Big Knit: We Smashed Our Target Thanks to You!

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who picked up their needles and joined us for The Big Knit 2025 – your creativity, passion and community spirit have truly blown us away!
Thanks to your incredible efforts, we didn’t just meet our target of 2,500 little hats… we surpassed it! 🎉
Each and every hat you made is a little work of art – unique, fabulous, and full of personality – and we cannot wait to see them topping Innocent smoothie bottles in shops across the UK.
While we’re only able to submit a limited number to Innocent, every hat that counted has raised 30p for Age UK Mid Mersey, staying right here to support older people in our community. That means your creativity is directly helping us tackle loneliness, provide advice, and offer vital services where they’re needed most.

Knitting doesn’t just warm heads, it’s great for your hands and your mind too.
Regular knitting helps improve dexterity, hand strength, and fine motor skills, especially important as we age. It can also boost your mental wellbeing - the rhythmic, repetitive action has been shown to reduce stress, improve focus, and even ease anxiety.
So if you’ve found a love for knitting, keep going! Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or a brand new beginner, you’re doing something wonderful - for yourself and your community.

We’re already looking ahead to next year’s Big Knit - and with your support, we’re setting our sights even higher. Let’s grow our knitting army and raise even more vital funds next year!
