Age UK Reading is curretly piloting an older people's gardening service in the Southcote area of Reading.

The service is being delivered by paid staff supported by volunteers and aims to ensure that older people can continue to enjoy their garden and see it as a source of pleasure even if caring for it has become a bit too demanding.

During our visit we will supply two people to spend just under an hour performing basic garden maintenance tasks such as lawn mowing, hedge trimming, weeding, tidying etc. The cost is £15 per visit.

Although we are restricting this service to the Southcote area at the moment, we hope to expand it in the future. This expansion will be led by demand. If you would like to go onto our waiting list to be contacted when we can service your area then please let us know your details.

To register your interest in this service as a client or as a volunteer you can call our office on 0118 950 2480 or email info@ageukreading.org.uk

We cannot remove garden waste from your property but we can start a compost heap, mulch grass cuttings, or you can order a green bin/bag from the council here for a one off payment. They will then remove green waste as part of their regular collection.

This project has been delivered with a lot of support from our friends and colleagues at Food 4 Families. To find out more about their work please look here https://www.food4families.org.uk/
