Volunteering roles with Age UK Sheppey

Age UK Sheppey are always pleased to hear from anyone who wishes to volunteer to help us provide services to older people.

There are a wide range of volunteering opportunities on offer and your role as a volunteer can be as varied or as simple as you wish.  Find out more about our volunteering roles.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering is a fantastic way to get involved and do something rewarding for both yourself and your local community! It's also great fun and is an excellent way to meet new people, experience different environments, make new friends, learn new skills and enjoy life, all while supporting the work we do in the community.

Who can volunteer?

Almost anyone can be a volunteer.  We have a wide range of roles which suit different people and different roles.  Some roles will require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

How much time do I need to give?

It depends on the volunteer role you are interested in. Some people give an hour a week, other people do more. We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities on offer and your role as a volunteer can be as varied or as simple as you wish.

We are looking for Dementia Support volunteers to support us in our delivery of services across Sheppey.

Over 850,000 people in the UK are living with dementia - that’s one in six people over 80. We offer community-based support services for people living with dementia and their carers to improve their quality of life.

Dementia, for those who live with it and for the people who care about them, can be a lonely and frightening illness. It can also cause issues with confidence, preventing people from continuing to do the things they enjoy.

Our dementia support services are designed to help those who live with dementia to keep up the lifestyle they enjoy for as long as possible, and to offer some comfort and support when they’re facing unfamiliar or difficult situations.

Volunteering is an excellent way to support people with dementia and be part of a friendly and enthusiastic team.
