Our Mission and Values
Our vision is for Southampton to be a city in which people in later life flourish.
Our mission is to provide a range of services which support the independence and wellbeing of Southampton's older citizens and positively improve their quality of life.
Our values can be defined as; courteous and respectful, holistic and person centred on individuals, professional and efficient, creative and collaborative and attentive to the views of service users.
Age UK Southampton is the operating name for Age Concern Southampton following the decision by the Trustees for the charity to join the Age UK network in February 2013. The new Age UK charity was formed following the merger of Age Concern and Help the Aged to form a new national charity with the aim of protecting and supporting older people by campaigning, raising awareness and providing practical support.
Joining this network doesn’t affect the independence or service delivery here in Southampton but does allow us to benefit from national support in developing our services, providing information and advice and getting involved with larger awareness building campaigns.
Age Concern Southampton is governed by the Age Concern Standard 3 Gold Constitution dated 23rd July 1997 and is registered under the Charities Act 2011 - Charity Registration No 1122954. The Charity was registered on 26th February 2008.
With effect from the 1st August 2008, the Charity took over the activities, assets and liabilities of the Southampton Old People’s Welfare Committee (Charity number 201856), which was constituted on 15th September 1959 and was registered as a charity on 31st January 1962.
Across our mix of volunteers and staff, Age UK Southampton enjoys a tremendous mix of skills, expertise and knowledge.

To ensure the effectiveness of our work, we operate within the city limits of Southampton but we work closely with neighbouring organisations Age Concern New Forest and Age Concern Eastleigh to ensure that older people can get the support they need across the area.
