We hold the Advice Quality Standard which provides you with assurance that we meet strict criteria that demonstrates a commitment to quality. Our dedicated Information and Advice team offer free confidential information and advice on a range of issues affecting older people from Attendance Allowance to Zumba classes.
Our friendly team of staff and volunteers are available to answer your questions or provide more information about our services.

We are members of 'Advice in Southampton' - a working partnership of the key advice agencies within the city who have joined forces to improve services and create additional capacity.

Money and Benefits Our team are able to advise whether you might be entitled to specific benefit entitlements, claim specific allowancess and help with pension queries as you reach later life. Over the last few years we've been able to help older people claim back over £700,000 in entitlements that has made significant differences to their lives - from assurance to keeping the heating on, eating properly or that little something that they've always looked forward too! “I can now make plans to become more independent” Due to the complexity of the assessement an appointment will be required and can be arranged at either our office or at your home, and could last up to 2 hours. Specific instructions will be provided by our team depending on your circumstances. |
Cost of Living Crisis Not feeling in control of your money can have a huge impact on day to day living and cause a great deal of stress. Our team can help you check you are getting the financial support you are entitled to.

Future Planning Our team is here to help you access the services you need for later life We can help explain issues surrounding residential and non-residential care through to deciphering pension plan option and retirement. If your query relates to Power of Attorney or will making, we can offer advice and provide you with a list of specialist contacts. We are not able to provide financial advice or recommend specific businesses. |
Housing Not knowing what your options are when it comes to moving for the last time can add unwanted stress and pressure to an already difficult situation. Our team will help you with deciding what you should consider and put you in contact with someone who can go through the process with you in more detail. Alternatively, if you're looking for support with maintaining your independence at home, either through gardening or small DIY jobs, or require some guidance and support when communicating with private landlords please get in touch.

Social Activity Socialising is an important element of later life but can often become difficult due to mobility or knowing whereabouts to go. This can lead to isolation and loneliness. Our team can help direct you to activities near to you and to organisations that can provide appropriate support. |
Resources
Free Age UK leaflets are available for you to take away that provides key contact numbers for organisations associated with matters relating to social activity. We also have a selection of additional local flyers and leaflets that will help you to get support within the city.
