"My son gave me a Samsung tablet for my birthday and it stayed in its box for a couple of months as I was too frightened to use it. I heard about the computer groups and gave it a go.  You should have seen the look on my son's face a month later when I was talking to him about setting up a skype account. Thanks to all the staff."     David - Northam

No matter what your level of experience our computer group volunteers can help you to do what you want to do. Come along and see for yourself.

Our Computer Groups are based at:

  • Manston Court, Lordshill fortnightly on Mondays (10:30 to 12:30)
  • Freemantle & Shirley Community Centre on Fridays (10am -12noon)
  • Other locations are planned around the city, check back soon

For a small suggested donation of £3, our volunteers will help you with a whole range of IT-related issues that you might have.

What we can help with:

  • Getting online
  • Skype and video calling
  • Loading photos from camera
  • Online shopping
  • Updating anti-virus software
  • Tablets and smartphones
  • Basic troubleshooting
  • Setting up email addresses
  • Microsoft Office

There's no need to book - just drop in for some help and a cup of tea.

We hope to start groups in other parts of Southampton in the coming months;

We recommend that you bring your own device or laptop with you so that the volunteers can see the specific issue you're having.

Please note this service is not an IT class to learn about a specific subject and is instead a drop in session to support you with your own understanding or with specific IT difficulties you are facing.

NHS patients who have been referred to us for digital support by the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team are very welcome to join these computer groups for a wider range of support.
