Thank you to our trustees

At Age UK Wandsworth our trustees working closely with our executive team (pictured above together) continue to help older people age well in Wandsworth. November 3rd – 7th is Trustee Week when we recognise the contribution made by our trustees. Charity trustees are dedicated volunteers who guide and oversee the future of our charity.
Trustees play a vital but often unseen role in the governance of a charity. They help shape our strategy, oversee our finances, and ensure that everything we do is in line with our mission and values. From reviewing budgets to ensuring good governance and championing the voices of older people, our trustees can be relied upon to support our Executive Team.
At Age UK Wandsworth we take our role in fostering the diversity of trustees very seriously. We have recently recruited two EPOC (Empowering People of Colour) board fellows. The EPOC Board Fellowship Programme provides an opportunity for mid-senior professionals of colour within the EPOC Network to attend FTSE 350 Boards and those of large private companies and charities or not-for-profit organisations. It is the only programme of its kind to be sector agnostic.
We have also launched our own Youth Trustee Scheme with the recruitment of two youth trustees (aged 19-25 years). The aim is to give them hands-on training and experience in governance, leadership and strategy while they learn how a charity operates at Board level. Our youth trustees will in turn bring a youth perspective and voice into Board discussions; share ideas; and support the Executive Team to develop the charity’s intergenerational strategic direction and services.
To our trustees: thank you for the time you give to Age UK Wandsworth. Your support helps us to ensure that our charity remains resilient, compassionate, and effective - now and for the future.
