Could you help us to make Wiltshire and Swindon a great place to grow older?

Age UK Wiltshire is the county’s largest charity providing support and services to older people living in Wiltshire and Swindon. We are a registered charity but operate as a company limited by guarantee.

As a Trustee you will provide a strategic lead and oversight for the direction of Age UK Wiltshire. This is not an operational role.

The post is unpaid but will provide you with a great deal of experience and satisfaction. It is a chance to develop your leadership skills, understand the issues affecting older people today and be part of a dedicated team that is helping to make a difference to the lives of older people.

We are looking for individuals with strategic vision, independent judgement, a passion for helping older people, and a willingness to give time and commitment to represent our organisation and its values. We are currently opening new retail charity shops accross Wiltshire and so retail experience is desirable.

Age UK Wiltshire recognises the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME, women and young people who are currently under-represented our board.

What is invovled?

Trustees are expected to:

  • Attend bi-monthly meetings
  • Get involved in support work including fixed term projects
  • Contribute advice and support to the Chief Executive Officer on an ad hoc basis;

All reasonable expenses are reimbursed, and training is provided.
