About Age UK Wiltshire’s Charity Shops

We have four charity shops where people can buy or donate preloved clothes, books, homeware and other items.  We also have an online shop on eBay and are looking to expand to sell on other online places, such as vinted.

What does a Volunteer Online Seller do?

Our Online Seller play a key role in maximising the value of every donation. Selling high value goods online helps us make the very best use of every item generously donated to us. They work as part of a dedicated team to sort, organise and prepare stock so that our online eBay shop can raise vital funds needed to further our mission of supporting older people in the local community.  The usual tasks carried out are:

  • Work as part of a team of dedicated volunteers who processes donation at our Hub
  • Identify high value donations that may be suitable for auction or online sale
  • Support the smooth flow of stock from the Hub to our online shop
  • Ensure items are photographed, priced and accurately listed on eBay
  • Respond to eBay inbox messages
  • Flag any refunds or claims lodged with the Senior Commercial Manager
  • Wrap and package items for posting including adding address details
  • Undertake any other duties as and when necessary

How much time do I need to Commit?

As an Online Seller, we ask for a minimum weekly commitment of 3 hours at our Hub in Swindon, but if you’re up for it, you’re welcome to help as often as you like, your time and energy are always appreciated!

Along with initial training and induction, volunteers need to join support meetings and may need to attend additional training as necessary.  We would love for you to come along to Age UK Wiltshire’s Bi-Annual get-togethers too. It’s a great chance to connect and stay updated.
