Dementia Care Connections Day highlights range of support in Evesham

Published on 30 April 2026 01:25 PM

Age UK Wyvern staff were joined by plethora of local organisations to provide comprehensive advice and support for people living with dementia, in a well-attended Care Connection Day at Wallace House in Evesham.

The event was designed to encourage people living with dementia, and those supporting them, to start conversations about care earlier instead of at a point of crisis, which can be more stressful for all involved. The goal was to help individuals and families make informed choices and feel more empowered when planning for future stages of life.

Other organisations present included Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service, who were promoting home safety, giving information about smoke alarms, and talking about the “Herbert Protocol”, a scheme to quickly locate people with dementia who go missing. A wide range of care service providers, from home-based services that help people remain independent for as long as possible, through to day care and residential care options, were also present.

Louise Kitchings, from Richmond Villages at Wood Norton, had a stand at the event:

“We’re proud to be part of an event showcasing what Evesham has to offer people living with dementia”, she commented.

Kelly Reeves from Age UK Wyvern, who organised the event, remarked:

“We recognise that a collaborative approach is essential in achieving the best outcomes. That’s why we were pleased to bring together a variety of local service providers, all able to offer valuable information, guidance, and support within the community. We have a long history of working in partnership across Evesham, contributing to local events, social groups, and support networks. We are also proud members of the Evesham Dementia Action Alliance, which is committed to making the town as dementia-friendly as possible.”

Age UK Wyvern is now preparing a series of events for Dementia Action Week, which takes place from the 18th to 24th May 2026.
