Age UK Barnsley say big ‘thank you’ for generous donations

Age UK Barnsley would like to offer a big ‘thank you’ to donors after receiving a number of hugely generous contributions in recent weeks.

The local charity, which relies on the generous support of local people to deliver services on behalf of older people, received three substantial donations. These include:

  • £1,000 from a client in the Penistone Area, who wishes to remain anonymous, but who received support from our Information & Advice Service and wanted to recognise our ongoing support with a financial contribution that will be ring-fenced and split between the Information & Advice Service and providing one-to-one support in Penistone and the surrounding villages.
  • £508 from Raymond Horsley, a supporter who lives in the North Area of Barnsley, who has sold a number of items and has kindly donated the proceeds to support the work of Age UK Barnsley after being supported by our Social Inclusion Team.
  • Local musician Alan Wood, who raised £155 from a collection at a folk club and who wanted to recognise and celebrate our work.

Commenting, Age UK Barnsley Chief Executive Debby Bunn said:

“We are immensely grateful to our wonderful friends and supporters for raising funds on behalf of Age UK Barnsley and making these incredibly generous financial contributions towards the work that we do.

“Every penny that we receive in donations like these, or that we raise ourselves, goes towards supporting older people in Barnsley and delivering our collective mission of making Barnsley the best possible place to grow older.

“Age UK Barnsley is a fiercely independent local charity who relies on the generous support of local people and we are so grateful to receive these generous donations to our cause.”
