We're on a mission to end loneliness

The issue of loneliness is under the spotlight now as never before as it has been proven to have a profound physical and mental impact on older people's health. Our parent organisation, National Age UK, released a report highlighting the fact that over-50s could be particularly at risk of loneliness due to bereavement, financial strains and illness.

The realisation that you have no one to open up to about your problems can trigger a profound sense of isolation and distress. And with the number of households in Bath and North East Somerset containing a person over 65 set to rise to nearly forty per cent over the next 20 years, loneliness will increase too if action is not taken.

"Loneliness is an issue we take seriously at Age UK B&NES," says CEO Janet Dabbs "And we're on a mission to end it. We offer Befriending services and Day Centres for people who find it difficult to leave their home unaided, as well as a variety of different social groups and activities.

"So there's no need to suffer in silence. If you know anyone who could benefit or want to take advantage of our services yourself, don't hesitate to give us a call on 01225 466135 or email us on reception@ageukbanes.co.uk"
