Our Housing Advice and Support Service offers guidance and practical assistance to individuals experiencing housing difficulties or who may be at risk of homelessness. The service provides advice, support with applications, and help accessing appropriate housing related benefits and services.
When and Where
The Housing Advice and Support Surgery operates at Belvedere Community Centre, Mitchell Close, DA17 6AA every Thursday between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
There are two appointment slots available: 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. This is not a walk-in service.
Appointments
This is not a walk-in service. All enquiries must be directed through the Gateway team on 0208 300 0883, where an appointment will be arranged.
What the Service Can Help With:
- Housing Options: Assistance with completing online housing register applications.
- Homelessness Support: Guidance for individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, including support with approaching the council.
- Rent Arrears: Exploring options to help prevent eviction, including benefit entitlement checks and support with negotiating repayment arrangements with landlords.
- Housing Benefit and Financial Support: Assistance with housing benefit claims and applications for additional support, such as Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) where applicable.
- Specialist referrals: Referrals to specialist services where legal advice or urgent intervention may be required.
