Volunteers in Care Homes

Published on 14 November 2019 03:50 PM

The Volunteers in Care Homes Project has now been up and running for just over a year. We are pleased to say we now have 9 care homes across Bolton involved in the project and an ever increasing number of volunteers.

The aim of the Project is to reduce the loneliness felt by residents in care homes. Volunteers befriend the residents and provide activities that the residents can enjoy. So far, residents have enjoyed trips to Hope View Sensory Farm, vintage fashion shows, arts and craft groups, walks in their local area, plus much more.

Recently, we have introduced a monthly ‘Friendship Café’, with the aim of bringing residents from the participating care homes together so they can socialise over a cup of tea with games, puzzles, talks and crafts also on offer. Volunteers who cannot commit to weekly visits often help out at the Friendship Café.
