A unique woodland setting within Leamington offering - an area of calm and relaxation for anyone affected by dementia -connection with earlier days through colour, scent, touch and sound.

This unique woodland setting within Leamington Spa was officially opened by our patron, Liz Kershaw, on 19th July.

It provides an area of calm and relaxation for anyone affected by dementia including family and carers. A further aim is to assist in connecting with the scents, colours, touch and sounds of earlier days.

The area features a wide mixture of trees and shrubs as well as a sensory garden, pond, sheltered seating areas and is also attractive to wildlife.

Paintings Plantation has been created, and is maintained, by volunteers in partnership with Campion School in whose grounds it is located. The name commemorates the late  Norman Painting OBE and his invaluable contribution to Age UK Warwickshire, and Age Concern Warwickshire, as patron and supporter. Many will also remember him as 'Phil Archer' of The Archers, in the long running and much loved radio programme.

Paintings Plantation, which is open by arrangement, also offers volunteering opportunities to those wishing to contribute to the wellbeing of those affected by dementia.

Please note that whilst this woodland area has been created with safety in mind, it is unsuitable for wheelchairs.
