The visit of the Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa, Councillor Susan Rasmussen, on the 25th May provided a further landmark in the continued development of Paintings Plantation with the opening of a new pathway.

This unique woodland setting within Leamington offers an area of calm and relaxation for anyone affected by dementia, including their carers, to visit by prior arrangement. The purpose of the new path is to enable visitors to safely walk around.

Set in the grounds of Campion Academy, students are also encouraged to participate in maintenance, development, planting and growing vegetables. It's part of the Bronze and Silver levels of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme which will hopefully resume before too long.

The development's name commemorates Norman Painting OBE and his valuable contribution to Age Concern Warwickshire, which became Age UK Warwickshire, as patron and supporter. Its CEO from those days, Elizabeth Phillips, continues to be a driving force.

Paintings Plantation is maintained by Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire volunteers in partnership with Campion Academy with support from the town council and local businesses.
