Calling Croydon’s Knitters and Crafters – Help Us Make a Difference One Hat at a Time

Age UK Croydon is thrilled to be gearing up for another year of The Big Knit, the nationwide fundraising campaign that brings together creativity, community, and support for older people.

As preparations begin for the 2026/27 campaign, we're inviting local residents to dig out their knitting needles and crochet hooks and get involved. Whether you're an experienced crafter or completely new to knitting, there's a place for everyone in this heartwarming community effort.

Turn Your Hobby into Help

Those tiny hats may be small, but their impact is huge. Once placed on Innocent Smoothie bottles, they help raise funds that support Age UK services. Every hat contributes towards helping older people access the advice, companionship and support they need.

Everyone Can Take Part

The beauty of The Big Knit is that it's for everyone. You can knit at home, with friends, in a local group, or as part of a community project. It doesn't matter if you make a handful of hats or fill a whole bag—every contribution counts.
